All work is thrown of the potter's wheel using a creamy and translucent porcelain, the pefect
canvas for her painstaking decoration. The touchable patterns are applied using a fine tip slip trailer
(essentially a blunt needle) through which richly pigmented, liquefied clay flows. The ware are then
coated with a food safe glaze and fired to over 2000 degrees in an electric kiln. This makes them durable
enough to last through the next Ice Age. Unless you knock one against your granite countertop while loading
the dishwasher. Then it would be toast.
Although Cynthia Vardhan Ceramics appear extremely fragile, they are designed for regular use.
The glaze used is durable, lead-free, non-toxic and food safe. The wares are also microwave and dishwasher safe,
although with repeated abrasive scrubbings, the decoration may wear down.
