The Corset has been worn by women for hundreds of years. It is a
garment that covers your lower torso from bust line to the top of the
hips. They started out as garments that were worn daily for a purpose,
but now have become costume pieces and sexy lingerie. Originally
thought of as heavy, restricting and uncomfortable to wear
undergarments, these days not only are Corsets comfortable, but they
are even worn as outerwear.
Corsets
are similar to bustiers in both design and function. The difference
is a bustier provides gentle shaping and enhancement of a woman's
natural shape. A Corset, however, can completely re-shape the
figure, removing inches from the waist and greatly accentuating
the bust and hips.
Corsets are usually constructed of firm material such as satin,
brocade or cotton, but also come in other fabrics such as silk and
lace. They come in an array of colours and you can find something
that allows you to be as modest or daring as you desire.
The sides of a Corset have curved shaped ribbing that help to
give your body the hour glass shape. These ribs were originally made
of steel or whalebone, but these days are mostly made from heavy
plastic or spiral steel.
A Corset is held together by lacing which is usually at the back,
and adjusting the lacing changes the tightness and the resulting body
shape. Most Corsets also have a buttoned or hooked opening at the
front and once the lacing is adjusted they can be put on and taken
off using this opening.
Some Corsets come with a garter belt so you can attach your stockings
easily.
Corsets have a slimming effect by making the waist appear smaller
and lifting and supporting the bosom. They support the back and help
you keep a good posture which also adds to the positive appearance.
Basically, Corsets enhance the beauty, elegance, femininity and

Corset tips: Avoid wearing your panty hose under your corset
because the hose is very tight and stretchy, they will be almost
impossible to pull down when the corset is laced tight. A strapless
bra will work better because the Corset tends to push you up, bra
straps will be looser and fall down. If you do wear a bra with
straps, adjust the straps to take up the slack. Tops made of thinner
material will work the best under a Corset. Any style top can be
worn, but avoid bulky clothing. If you wear pants or jeans, low-rise
will be easier to remove. The pants will also be more flattering if
they fit snugly in the hips. Corsets can be worn with both fuller
skirts and straight skirts. Fuller skirts will help to accentuate the
hourglass look, while straight skirts will render a more slimming
appearance.
