Tankless Water Heaters: The Right Decision

Now that you have gone over all the information you are ready to take the next step and purchase a tankless water heater unit. However, you are still a little unsure which brand and model to choose. Most major brands sold in North America such as Bosch, Rinnai, and Paloma have been manufacturing tankless water heaters for years. Although they may be new to you, they are well known, established brands in Europe and Asia.

Your first major decision is whether to purchase a gas or electric unit. Both have their positive and negative features and it really comes down to what size you need. If you have an average size house with 2-3 bathrooms you are going to need the larger unit to keep up with the water usage. In this case you are probably going to want to purchase the gas model. This is because it has a larger capacity and can heat the water in a shorter period of time. It is also much more cost effective. If you are looking to purchase a unit for your small house or condo and only need to heat water for 1 bathroom, the electric may be a better choice for you. They fit just about anywhere and are easy to install. While the electric units’ capacity is not as large as the gas version and they are a little less efficient, if you are only using it in a small area, it won’t really make a difference.

First is price, is installation included, what does the warranty cover and how long has the company been in business. While tankless water heaters are fairly new here, they have been very popular in Japan and Europe for a number of years.
