Social Media are online methods that allow people to share content,
personal opinions, exchange ideas on a broad range of issues.
Social Media websites should be included as part of your SEO strategy
as another marketing tool. It will help create a significant amount
of traffic to your website without spending money. Most of these
websites will let you create a profile page, including adding
your own website address, which will create a link back to your
website. You need to become active in the social media community
for you to notice real traffic.
Here's an example, lets say you just finish uploading a new article
on "How to save money on gasoline". You would go to
websites like Reddit and
Digg and submit that story. Within
minutes people will be able to see the story and vote on it, if
people like it you will get more exposure. You can also leave
a comment on someones story and create a link back to your website
that relates to the story. But you need to provide value to the
community based on the story, not just a link.

There are many Social Bookmark websites on the internet. They
are used to keep track of your favorite bookmarks (websites) the
same ones you have on the web browser that you use such as FireFox
or Internet Explorer. The cool thing about the online Social Bookmarks
is that they are stored on web servers, giving you access anywhere
you have an internet connection.
These can also be used to create links back to YOUR site. Because
search engines will index those pages they will also see the bookmarks
pointing to your website. All you need to do is register for a
FREE account and start book marking the pages of interest. Just
don’t bookmark your entire site.

STUMBLE - Is a great site that will help you
discover new and interesting websites. When you create an account,
you can also include a link of you website on your profile. Then
you will install a button for your web brower, now every time
you click on it, it will show you a different website. When you
have Stumble more than 20 websites, you can add one of your website
pages for others to see. Within less than one hour you can get
more than 500 people viewing that particular page.
